VMware has released a technology preview of the next version of its desktop virtualization platform VMware Workstation, which will most likely receive version 9.1 once released. The technology preview can be used until October 15 2013.
This version provides the following new features:

- Expiring Virtual Machines
- New Converter supporting Microsoft Windows 8 and Microsoft Windows Server 2012 andRed Hat Enterprise Linux 6. Support for virtual and physical machine sources with GUID Partition Table (GPT) disks, Unified Extensible Firmware Interface (UEFI). Support fo the EXT4 file system and support for VMware VM hardware version 9
