The PCI-SIG finally released new PCI Express 2.0 standard specifications, introducing a remarkable interconnection rate of 5GT/s instead of current 2.5, and the input/output virtualization feature, already revealed in February 2006, allowing guest OSes to access physical hardware in a simpler way.
This improvement could allow virtualization products to circumvent current limitation, for example in providing enhanced 3D capabilities inside virtual machines.
