A VMware partner, Technical Architecture Solutions, released a Microsoft Excel workbok that can be used for making cost comparisons for future deployments based around VMware ESX Server rather than physical boxes. It doesn't produce a complete, complex TCO analysis but it's a good starting point, and is completely free of charge. Download it here.
